Starting Numbers

Starting weight is a sad 245 lbs.

For my height of 5'6", I've been told that I should weigh no more than a grand total of 170 lbs.

There's a long road in front of me, but with strength and will power it can be done.

Home Gym

Because I lack the self confidence and am unable to afford a gym membership (no not even $10 a month is cheap for us), I have purchased a few pieces of equipment to help me in my quest for weight-loss.

The first piece of equipment that was purchased was the Total Gym. The Total Gym was an essential piece of equipment the first time I struggled to lose weight and will be a valuable piece in getting back to where I need to be.

Next there was the Gazelle. Since I was never a runner this was a great piece of equipment to help build up stamina and prepare me for the hard surfaces that I would later face. The fact that the Gazelle is low impact was a great savior for me as well after I broke my left ankle in three places during a training accident while in the Police Academy.

Also have a collection of free weights, a Punching Bag, various DVDs, and the Perfect Pushup.

Now to just start using all of this stuff on a regular basis.

December 2013 Goals

Yes, yes, I'm well aware that starting a diet or weight-loss program in the middle of the Holiday Season is a bad idea, but with a little will power, family and friend support, nothing is impossible.

First let's get things started by setting just a few goals for the month of December.

  • No Taco Bell; would go with no fast food in general, but really only ever eat at Taco Bell.
  • Drink water, no soda. This has and can be done (See the Mountain Dew Challenge)
  • Lose at least 5 lbs.
  • Try not to over indulge in cakes, cookies, pies, and candy.

So who's ready to lose some weight and get in shape?
